92 CR500 outside head tube diameter?

I have a Scotts steering damper on my CR and am tired of the damper tower constantly wiggling loose. I have a buddy who makes his own damper towers that look to be much more stable but he needs the outside head tube diameter to see if he has one that fits and I don't own a set of calipers to measure it with.

If needed I will go buy a set of calipers to measure it with this weekend but I figured I would check here first. Does anyone happen to know the diameter of the head tube at the upper portion, where a steering damper tower would bolt on?

why buy a whole set ? go to harbor freight and get a $12 micrometer, they may have cheap calipers also
