im not aware of anyone using the 02+. im not sure if it would work because the rc valve shit, plus i got looking at mine today and it appears the flywheel might be keyed different but im not 100% sure, and i forgot to look at the stator so i cant say for sure it has the same bolt pattern as 500. give it a try and see what happens

people been using the older ignitions, not the '02-'07. im not saying the '02+ wont work, but youll have alot of wires that arent connected to anything and i dont know if it will still work but maybe it will. assuming of course, that the flywheel and stator will bolt up to a 500. like i said earlier, the only way to know for sure is to try it

I'm going to do an '03 on my gn-3, this weekend I'm going to finally get the ike together. the stator plate needs to be machined, but the bolt pattern is the same and the flywheel fits.

I'm using an '88 250 system in an '88 500 engine case as soon as this thing is bolted together, 450rider is using an '88 250 system on a newer 500 engine and it works excellent

Good idea... I'll start reading the book. Being from Iowa though, reading isn't my strong point... colors are marginal at best.100hp honda wrote:i think mick used a similiar year and he probly knows. also if you have a 500 service manual it shows the wiring diagram and that will probly help, as the wire colors might be the samefastkart wrote:I have a '97 system to put on one of my 500's but i'm not sure which wires I need and what I don't. Well in IMHO the addition of a complete setup from an '01 cr 250 was the ultimate modification. The thing absolutely RIPS
My ride is a '04 Service Honda which may have a different mounting pattern than an 80's model.
My application was a direct bolt on, plug in affair and dollar for dollar the most awesome performance adder I've ever experienced.
The bike started first kick when cold and never more than 3 when hot. I spent a week in the Desert and found no negatives what so ever with this modification. That's my
