Vet X sunday at Racetown 3-8-09

Post by Hammer »

I was planning on riding lake Elsinore Saturday, then to The night club outside Canyon Lakes front gate, in the shoping center. Camping in my service-Race van, then to Racetown Sunday to watch.

Now I am thinking about praticing Saturday at Racetown, camping and then racing Sunday.

What is the track like there. I am 45, and am going to race an easy class, since I just got my bike, and was never a big jumper.

Is there any good clubs or bars close to Race town, ( my wife likes the clubs)

I don't know about clubs there since I camp out.

Two things to be aware of as far as the the track itself. The wind and the big step up in the back. That thing is pissing me off cause I've rolled it everytime. :x But its a big leap for my soon to be 52 year old body. Lots of tables to bounce off of so go a couple of clicks harder on the rear rebound clicker.

The front runners (4 or 5) in the 40 Newbie class will probably make it and the rest roll it.

Dam dude your making me want go now. :?

You should come out, I have a friend coming (Scott Seargent) to help teach me how to race better. He did a good job (for an electrical contractor on a stock 07 RM 450) a couple of months ago at Glen Helen.

WHAT HAPPENED AT THE WORLD VET?

Over-40 Pro: KTM race director Kurt Nicoll could have won, but he threw his chain. MTA's Willy Musgrave could have won, but a bad start in moto one forced him to charge through the pack to third--but he could have been first. Former Mexican National Champion and Team Pro Circuit rider Pedro Gonzalez could have won, but his second moto start was pitiful. In the end, unheralded Eric Sandstrom took the win.

My wife found a club (Karma) in victorville, with a hotel across the street, and this video of the step up jump. :)

Is this the one you mentioned.

Yeah, the step up in the back is big, it's like 110-120'. My guys hit it 4th pinned. Maybe I'll see ya out there, I'll be leaving to the ranch tomorrow morning and may come out and watch if I get my chores done on Saturday.

Thats the one on the Vet track. I think I could make that one, but I only use the vet track for a warm up lap before practice on race day.

Steiners right though the one on the main is 100-120, but thats to clear the whole thing, one only needs to make 50' to land it safely.

Never the less, it is a forth gear PINNED jump, with severe consequenses for a mistake. I don't think at my age I'll ever have the balls (or stupidity) to do it. The one in the video looks much more forgiving.

Thanks, for all the info, Scott S said the same thing. I will have to see how Saturday practice  goes.

If I feel comfortable on the track I will race, If not I can party all night, and be a spectator on Sunday, (my original plan.) It's a long way from Carlsbad, so I figured I might as well go for the weekend.

You might look up Don Bedford #213 450 Honda Black plastic with gold trim, from Carlsbad too, I think he's going, should be in the 40 Newbie class. Were about the same speed.

That sounds like the best plan practice Sat, spectate Sun. Then you'll see how the show goes.
