Please explain to me how you think the seller is a scammer. He has done nothing to misrepresent his add, he thouroughly expains what has been done to the bike and states that it has a Hawaii street legal title. How is he trying to scam the potential buyer???????? yes, because of personal preference it has no lights, speedo, or mirrors, does the seller anywhere in his ad state that it does??? I read the email thread between you two so I could see what was going on for myself. How many times did the seller ask for your phone number so he could call and explain the whole history of the bike???? At least four or five from what I can see. You really should get your facts straight before trying to act all high and mighty. The seller has no problem showing the email thread between you two, It in no way shows he is a scammer. He is an honest hard working man who has put blood sweat and tears into the bike that he is now selling. You want to threaten by saying he is a scammer and you can prove it from these email replies..... I'll save you some time, here are the emails, word for word, for all to read, nothing to hide nor does he care what you think

that bike would never pass safety or would it pass recon. If you went thru recon with it you should know that they take a picture of both your frame vin and engine vin. You also need a non-resetable speedo/odo for yearly safety inspections, as do you need all lights and a horn. Your ad is very misleading and dishonest. STREET LEGAL means it can pass a yearly safety inspection.

Isn't the above post yours? On 10-24-2008 you asked whats the address to recon. But you just told me that you put bikes threw recon all the time. Very dishonest and misleading, I feel for the fool that buys that bike.

because this shit gets old. you have no idea how many peple aask me
the same stupid questions. this bike came from wesconsion &bout 3
years ago. it had a texas title but had never been registered. I get
the bike here and rather go threw recon I get a safely and try to put
it threw the dmv. and I got a title. next question? and just becase I
didn't know where recon is dosen mean I don't know the law. and I have
put several bikes threw recon. but I supposed I need to prove that to
you? and they don't take pictures. recon and safely arre completely
different. you only have to go to recon once if you have a bike that
was for offroad use only or cusrom built it. then once you pass recon
tou got get it weighed then a safeey then to dmv. then ya get a plate.
then a year later you get a new safety. I can talk for days about what
is needed for recon. of course the bike would not pass recon right
now. but one reason why I would need to recon? the bike is street
legal and legit!!!! if your not intrested stop pestering me. now once
again if you would email me your number we can talk it over. but im
tired of emailing trying to prove to someone who knows nothing what is
fact. you prolly believe blinkers are required on a motorcycle in
hawaii too right. you believe this because you are a follower and
don't find anything out for yourself.

That "recon" thing over here is a real bitch. You see, "back in the day" VW's were the car of choice over here and some got baja'd, some got full tub buggy mods and some just lowered, hopped up etc. Auto crime went through the roof with guys stealing bugs for their parts. So they passed a law that stated ANY changes to the OEM vehicle had to be confirmed by the "reconditioning" guy at the DMV. This was so broad a law that technically it included every part on the car....including stereo speakers, wheels etc. Now, the only time you really need one is when you are doing what we are doing or lifting a truck sky high or other major changes to the vehicle.

When I got mine done (and supposedly it was the LAST one done) they took a bunch of pictures of my frame numbers and motor numbers and checked EVERYTHING on the bike to make sure it was up to the regulations...I even had to buy stick on reflectors (yellow and red) to affix to the sides of the bike.

Though when I went through "recon" and jumped through their flaming hoops I didn't mention to them the motor was a 500 instead of a 250 but I told them the cases were different. Consequently, I don't recall getting a seperate piece of paper from "recon" stating the exact changes made to the vehicle, just an OK that it was street legal now.

I now have a "County of Hawaii" pink slip and all the normal registration stuff for a 97 CR250. This allows me to use or to sell the bike legally anytime I want to. An "out of state" pink slip may NOT be transferable in Hawaii without having to go through all the recon/safety inspection BS all over again.

It's a beatch...but it can be done (though not anymore I hear...something about losing Fed hwy funding because they were not complying to Fed emission regs).

So, Aloha450X I hate to be the bearer of potentially bad news, but if you don't have a "County of Oahu" pink slip you may be screwed.

i have a state of hawaii title. just like your car, or streetbike or whatever. it can be bought and sold just like any other thing. now take a dirtbike with the mso to recvon. pass recon and go to the dmv. they take your mso and give you a title. no motor number on there just the vin. swap the motor and yes i am supposed to go to recon again, but why? so i can waste a day and he can give me a slip of paper to take to the dmv so i can get another title with no motor number. this guys refuses to give me his number.
