I may sell my bike...

Post by Travis »

I think I may get rid of the old 500. I have came across a camaro that I am thinking about picking up. There was a member that had a camaro project when they joined but I cannot remember who it was. I wish I had the money to keep both but I am sure that I do not. Will the member with the camaro let me know what has came about with their project? I still have my bike for now but may let it go. Speak up guys what should I do here?

I think you should obviously keep it. How much money does it cost to own it? I would say not alot. How much money will you get selling it? Again, I'd say not alot.

I just don't think you stand a chance of gaining anything if you part with it. On the other hand you stand a chance of loosing such a fun bike to ride.

I sold my 69SS almost 2 years ago before the prices started dropping. Keep the bike, build the car in time.

Thats like saying "I'm selling my 27"TV, so I can buy a Rolex watch"

WTF?

You have the money for the Rolex, or you dont..... A T.V. has nothing to do with it.

If a dirtbike makes or breaks a Camaro purchase.... thats gotta be one ratty Camaro

Part of the 20k I sold my 69 for went for putting my bike together. I don't get attached to cars, but maybe it's because of my business.

lets assume you could get $2000 from your scooter, that MIGHT get you a fender, hood and door handle from a 69 camaro. if you want to do it right, put your house up for collateral and head to scottsdale arizona and get a legitimate barret jackson car

It is a ratty camaro. If I had the money for the camaro I would have used it to make an AF when I rode my buddies 250 and saw the difference in the handling. The car is cheap enough that I may be able to afford it. I feel like I would spend more time tinkering on it than riding the bike anyway. I don't know what I will do. If I buy the car the bike will find a new home. It would take me several years to get the car into show material but that is the fun part.

Only 2 ways I would ever build one again.
Buy a very nice driver and change what I wanted or buy a Dynacorn body and piece it together from there. Either way it would have between 60-80k in it and in my opinion after owning several, they are not worth it. COPO's bring big money, real RS/SS bring good money but you can lose your ass in hurry building a ratty car. Been there, done that.

For that money, sign me up a new C6.

I didnt have the 4500cdn that i needed to buy a 67 camaro last weekend, so i told my uncle to get it. Nice desert car thats been stripped, new rear quartes on the back, new doors, hood, front quarters, grille, headlights, interitor (but blue). Its not put together, but its a very very nice car. I happen to have a 425 hp 396 waiting for such a project.

Yeah I had thought about getting a wrecked 02-04 camaro and using its stuff to fill out the car. Use the Ls1 and 6 speed. Disc brakes all around Efi. Basically make a newer car from a classic. Then all I need to do was repair the body and get some interior.

could be nice, I'm thinking my '68 thats rough will be like an open street stock car, proposing a manual valvebody 4l80, carbureted 421LS engine, no back seat, and a 9" rear with the "cheap big brake conversion" that uses mid 70s corvette rotors on drum brake spindles with c10 1/2 ton truck calipers.

The Vin says it is an X44 car. No SS/No Z28 just base model Camaro V8 car. Factory paint was Phantom Green with the White Interior. Probably will go back green if I get it but Black Interior. I don't think me and the white would work.

Picky Picky Didn't think anyone on a CR 500 site would know that there were 3 places to get ID numbers from. Regardless where the code came from that is what it is. No motor or trans, drivers door or interior. This is how I might afford it. I wish I could say at 24 yr old I could drop 20-40k on a car that was 40 yr old but I don't. Hell I am lucky to be making enough money to eat with 2 kids and a wife that is out of work right now.
