Honing for ProX piston rings

I am about to hone for my ProX piston. What grit do you guys hone with for these rings? 180 grit or 240 grit? I have a 105mm 240 grit for molly rings and was about to buy a 95mm ball hone for this cylinder. It is a 90mm piston.
The bike had a weisco in it with no holes drilled and the bridge wasn't releaved. The cylinder has good hatch marks from when the guy I bought it from just had it bored. It has PRODOGY WB scored into the bottom side of the cylinder.....I am guessing that is who did the work. I am about to drill the holes in the piston.

If the bore looks clean and straight, I'd measure the piston to wall clearence, scrub it with sotchbrite, and run it .

X2 or a light steel wool. just break the glaze..

x3, no need to bust out the hone, releive that bridge, scotchbrite, soap and water, dry, lube, assemble and be done with it

Well, I can't seem to wait just the few minutes it takes to get a reply......I bought a 95mm 180 grit hone. I drilled the holes a little like this:

I haven't drilled the holes on the four corner sides. Just the big one and the bridge holes. I will releave the bridge also. I will also put in the missing Scallops.

A ProX is cast..... you dont need a shitload of holes.

Just relieve the bridge.

LOL a cast piston with holes and a relieved bridge, that fuckers NEVER gonna sieze, break into a million pieces it might but it wont stick

If this piston has any chance of breaking I will throw it away and buy another. I was going by what Mr. Lewis told me, he had the same piston and I thought he said to drill the holes

At this point I only have holes for the bridge and the big hole on the intake side.

I dont think a cast piston would like that big hole drilled through it ...

yeah, it just creates a nice spot for cracks to form, then next thing you know your piston shirt is either on the trail via a nice hole it made in the cases, or in the trans via a similar hole.

Well, there is now another piston on it's way. I will give the other one to one of my sons to sit on their dresser.

according Pro-X its machined...he might be ok with the holes.

Well, now I have the new piston and the "other" new piston that has been drilled with holes. Mr. Lewis still says I can have the holes drilled and it will be fine. The question is, has someone drilled holes in the Pro X pistons and they came apart? From what i understand Mr. Lewis has and they have been fine.....or is this the reason his bikes never make it very far past start up

Just kidding.....I know it's from nitrous and other crazy stuff.

Ok, I talked to Lewis and decided to put the "Drilled" cast piston in the bike. This will be the test, I have another new piston but, that won't matter because if this one comes apart I will have to bore the cylinder anyways. I will run it hard and see if it stays together. In the end we will know.
