Here's an '84...

Post by Dakota Boy »

Here's my finished '84 when it was super-clean yet.

All plastic is original.
Seat is original.
RaceTech emulators in the forks and heavier springs front and back (also from RaceTech).
Motor completely tore down and rebuilt.
New bearings, new short rod.
It's on the 3rd oversize piston (Wiseco).
Boyesen reeds.

Eric Gorr did the cylinder head mod to stop the pinging/detonation some of these 84's were plagued with. Also put in a leaner needle taper which stopped the mid-range blubbering (another undesirable trait of the '84s).

The bike will need an aftermarket outer clutch basket at some point, but otherwise it's pretty solid right now.

I race in upper midwest Vintage MX races, and also will be in the +40 MX class in District 16 next year.

Still searching for an '82 Yamaha XT125 and a '87 KX250 (more old bikes from my past).
