No kidding. Up here and surrounding area, 98 and 99's are still bringing well over 2k. 01 steelie in good shape 3k easy. Theres been a guy here for along time trying to sell a Service Honda for like 5k and he still has it. I was going to do a 4 stroke build, but the cheapest bike I have found was an 04 450 with a completely trashed engine, for 1700. You guys back there might try crashedtoys.com, I looked there a while back and there was a 450f for $500.

atank wrote:Yeah, its my bike I hope to get $3000, I am bidding on Mik's AF on ebay now. If I don't get Mik's bike I have a 2005 CR250 with a bad engine, and I have another 1999 CR500 engine to go in it. :P
Why don't you guys work all this out outside of Ebay and save the fees?
You're at 3000 now so you got it. I might want to 05 CR250 you have if you want to work a deal with that?

Ported&Polished wrote:Looks nice, but 2500 max imo. Figure a bike like that is worth 1500 in that condition with a running 250 engine. Then a 99 500 engine is around 1000, add 500 for the mods, subtract 500 for the 250 motor when sold. So 2500 is right, but you can add a few hundred or subtract a few hundred depending on little things.
Yeah but I will keep it if I can't get $3000, its paid for and it don't eat that much, plus its a blast to smoke brand new $6000 four strokers!
6000$?? fuck in Canada it's 9000$ for a brand new thumper!! what a joke.

I hate to talk value when the builder is a fellow member, but IMO $3000 is too high. There is a very small market for a bike like this, and most buyers view any modifications as a negative thing, much less a transplant. Most riders are also terrified of the legendary open class bikes. IMO as a general bike enthusiast and not a CR500AF owner or builder (yet), $25-2700 is a reasonable asking price, but don't get your hopes up for it bringing more than about $2200. I have no delusions of breaking even if I build an AF and then want to sell it.
You were about 800 bucks off with your delusion dude....

I'm not the only one that was saying $2500, dude, so you can kiss my ass. Glad to see it brought what the seller wanted, though.
