Another So Cal Newbie

Post by redrdr67 »

Hey all,

My name's Art and I've been riding and racing for 37 years. Been lurking here and the other site. I just picked up a '99 from Nate79 on this board. It really is clean and looks like it hasn't been ridden much at all. Frame, pivot points, top end still fresh.

I bought this 500 mainly for training and read somewhere, you've gotta get a 500 before you go. I hope to learn alot from you guys. The last two strokes I've had were a '97 CR250R, an '05 300MXC, and still have an '04 Husky CR125.

Currently racing supermoto and US Desert Racing series. Not sure if I'm going to keep it desert or try it out for supermoto.

Looking forward to getting more great info from all of you.

Thanks for all the 'welcomes". Good bunch of folks here.

I'm in East LA, the safer part, sorta. I'd like to ride Gorman, but it's been so crowded with rif-raff, I haven't gone in awhile. Single track used to be my backyard on my XR650R. Let me know when you go. IMHO, Gorman single track is one of the best training places in Socal. It helped me finish the Baja 500 solo, of course, it was eight years ago.

Thanks for the continued warm welcomes folks. I just ordered all new OEM clutch/throttle cables, reeds, gaskets, air filters, fuel lines, etc., to go through it. Just had a great race at Grange for supermoto and will be at Stephens Mine at near Cal City for a USDR race. Hopefully I'll see some of you out there. Since I haven't prepped the CR500, I'll be on the pea-shooter WR250F.
Looking forward to hooking up with some of the So-Cal members for some good rides.
Oh ya, do I need to post some photos here to really prove I have a CR500R? :x :punch: :stir: :mebeer:
