A little JB weld should do it 'eh? :D I have no idea what Dumont is but I doubt I would think any different at the end of the day.

I honestly couldn't tell you. The motor made no weird noises. The last moto it ran we beat the snot out of a gate full of 450s in the Over 40 class. I bought the bike, did the usual tires, chain and sprockets, rebuilt the forks and rode it. It's never given a mechanical problem since I bought it about a year ago. Besides the water pump housing rotting away, the bike was running fine when I pulled the jug off. Scary huh? I'm pretty sure it's been resleeved cause the bore is like 89.006 and I'm not sure they did a good job putting the sleeve in. I've never had a resleeved cylinder so I couldn't tell you what a good one looks like but this one just doesn't "look" right. I'll take some pics when I get back home and post them. The crank feels tight and looks good. That being said it's still getting rebuilt or replaced with a new one.

you were racing with that???!!! these motors are soooo awesome! I would think you would have to have some pretty nasty piston slap sounds from the looks of that skirt.....

Most people would never notice the slap since it starts out minimal and slowly creeps up. Also, at least 50% of the bikes ive seen are lacking one or more exhaust mounts so they would never hear it over the rattley ass exhaust!!

Yep, never intended to before I got through rebuilding everything but I did. The bike made no weird noises. Won 7 out of 7 motos on it in the over 40 class then the water pump started leaking. I raced a CRF450 in the 8th moto and after fighting hard to pass my way to the front, finally got there and DNF'd. Yeah, 4 strokes are "better" Say what you want, that 450 is a freaking turd. Like I said, "still faster than a 450" with a top end like that.

If anyone was able to "hear" a small crack in a piston skirt or a little blow by I think Honda among many others would be "bidding" to employ them...

Hell I welded both rings and squished the dome in a Wiseco once and it was the quietest motor ive ever had. Thing ran 80% of new. Still enough to smoke a 450 in a drag race. :lmao:
