was a gnarly track last night...... River got his first taste of the ole fence..... i hope child protective services doesnt see the crash footage.....
My air pressure guage bit the dust as it was about 8 pounds low meaning i sent him out in round one with 20 lbs of air instead of 12..... so he about spun out every lap...finishing 2nd,
then for the second round i put in the right air pressure and he was hooked but the track was heavy.... so he was hooked a little too much and the right side footpeg gave its autograph to the turn 2 fence and he had a major dirt nap while leading.......his first big speedway crash ever in the 12 times he has ever ridden these motorcycles so he scored a 1 for the second heat pretty much killing his chances for the title as it was overall points, not heat~ semi~ main....
so after the big scare carnage..... the bike was amazingly undamaged after straightening the footpeg and he was all crocodile tears in the pits just sick knowing he cost himself the title...... i told him big deal... the crowd loves you and it is just a race, there'll be 10,000 more races so F@#K it, go show 'em who is the fastest tonight even if you had some tough luck.......
and he did.... he wasnt having any of it and he dropped the hammer and won the 3rd race even though i think he didnt care if he crashed again as he about got the turn 4 wall this time........ so Rocco Scopeletti is the D2 champ...scoring 8 (3,3,2), River was 2nd scoring 6 points (2,1,3) and Nicky was 3rd on the spare MRF mini with 4 points (1,2,1) and little Sam Ramirez rode his arse off but the bike just wasn't sorted..... We missed our So Cal buddies but the fans and potential sponsors are coming around for the industry and costa mesa programs next year so that is exciting....
and with the covered arena the roar from the crowd is even more intense.... Thanks again to you guys for supporting the youth movement and helping my little ripper get to the show! He says speedway is his number two priority to school so it looks like the supermoto schedule is pretty thin for next season unless some sponsors want the extra exposure.... i'm looking forward to a break to get the bikes finished, a couple orders filled, and getting ready for a top shelp speedway program for next year....
we wont be at costa mesa the 27th as im moving my shop but River will be shredding the O.C. Bullring one last time this season on October 4th at Oxley's S.R.A. National! Heres the link to the 3rd heat and the big crash! Thank the Lord little kids are still half rubber!!!
the crash...

the comeback......

I'll see you boys at C.M.!

River, like the old man said, you have many, many races to go, and they all dont go your way.

Life is like that too.....

I've very proud of everything you have done this year, that means accepting things like what happened at the Grand too.
