DeWayne Jones Performance Suspension

Post by dannygraves »

DeWayne is a long time racer and really knows his stuff. He specializes in suspension revalve, but can do anything. He is also known for straitening pipes, and right now I'm having him modify my FMF pipe to suit my riding and modify the squish in my spare head. He built my old 125 and revalved hoofarteds gen-2 250 and god damn does it ride nice!! :D Hes done a ton of great performance work for a number of people I know and its always turned out great. He even did the porting work on hoofarted's old yz80.
Anyway, he gave me permission to put his info up here for socal hoons that want to drop by and check him out.
give him a call (909)626-2751 he is a couple minutes from where the 57 and 210 meet.
he knows 500s better than any one I know, he has like 5 of them right now and a VERY done up supermoto cr500 that he races on. I have some cool pics of him racing that I will try to post. Hes the one that got me into cr500s. :D

Yeah I'll vouch for him! Definitely a stellar, highly opinionated individual. Very knowledgeable in the realm of CR500's and bikes in general. Was just inducted into the motorcycle hall of fame as well. His brother, Gary Jones, is the more famous of the two - known for legendary racing in the 70's. If you make it by there, plan to stay a while. DeWayne will unload volumes of information on any given topic during your stay! ;)

:D Yeah, I called him for a quick question and ended up on the phone for over an hour with even more knowledge under my belt!

2nd paragraph

Gary Jones is a three-time AMA Motocross Champion (’72 – ’74). As an American motocross pioneer, he wasn’t afraid to ride a different path. In fact, he once went so far as to climb aboard a U.S-Mexico machine he and his father helped build, the AMMEX. It was in the days after his factory days—Yamaha, then Honda, then Can-Am—came to end following some serious knee injuries. He tried a comeback on Jones-Islo, and then the AMMEX, where he wore the #101.
Also, check out that sick looking cone pipe and those Jones Bars: Our friend, Chuck Hansen from Brundage, Alabama told me those are the bars from Jones Racing (Gary, Dewayne, and their Dad). But hold the phone! Also check out the taters on that track—especially the one that Gary is just about to throw back to the man in the Maico jersey has nothing but his pearly whites to knock it down with. Those guys were so tough he probably caught that rock in his teeth and spat it out in the grass so he wouldn’t hit it the next lap.

I know Dwayne quit well. He did the motard suspension on my street legal CR 500. I have been dealing with him for 10 years ornso and have never known anybody who loves motorcycles more.

I sold my neighbor a 1981 YZ250H and he had Dwayne re-build both ends. Simply did an awesome job....

just got my pipe and head back from DeWayne... looks awesome. The head was loaded full of dings and I had him reshape it to rev. The pipe was reshaped for more overrev. top notch work

I bought it on ebay as a spare for like $10 and when I cleaned it up, it was seriously jacked! dewayne repaired the dings, resurfaced, reshaped, polised and blasted the outside for $100, also $100 for the pipe.
