SH gen 3 wishbone???
Hey all,
I'm looking for information on the SH AJ conversions for the gen 3 wishbone. Is it billet like their newer bikes and the TT bikes? Pics would be great.
I'm trying to come up with a list of pros and cons between the SH and TT conversions.
thanks.

This is typical of a S/H Gen 4 conversion. The Gen 3 looks nearly identical.
Note that the "Y" and cradle pieces are welded together from 3 pieces.
The TTM is one piece.

This is a CR125 frame, notice how Mike incorporated the "Y" into a structure that pushes the cradle forwards.... smart man!

Thanks for the compliments fella's I'm sorry it looks a little sloppy now that I'm looking at it close but, I tend to be in a hurry on my personal stuff here's a pic of the latest "Y" prior to final machining. It makes it easier to clean up after final assembly, welding and heat treat.

I know TT's is more custom bling looking but even still for what $9499.00 should there not be more attention to looks considering your supposed to be buying a New CR500AF and not a "Fab" shop conversion,I don't even know how to weld but looking at both pieces thats what came to my head, maybe its just the placement of the welds,I don't know?AlisoBob wrote:I wouldnt say that. I would say it looks like something a "Fab" shop would make, and that the TTM piece looks like a custom make part.kkvslayer wrote:... that Gen 4 SH look like dog shit.

Shannon we really do that with all the components c'mon you know how hard it is to clean up after heat treat the real job is brushing after heat treat and getting the grain to go the same direction for a bright brush finish one of our many options.ShanMan wrote:aww c'mon! powerfiend-
if you have questions on a SH bike,,
,,my email is ajwaggoner@servicehonda.com ,
the billet pieces are not solid ..and are relieved.
and if ya'll folks, want to dog me out.as usual..lol
its ok.
at least get the specs right.
and compare fairly in price,,if nothing else.
The BRAND NEW 02 SH CR500AF bikes were about $7500 ?
and were made with all completly new parts, new 02 chassis and new CR500 engine.
back then the 02 *conversion kit* for a customers used bike,
was no where near that price.
(it was $1800 with pipe and silencer and all mods ,hoses and parts needed)
hey whatever
heres, a 125 based 04 SH CR500AF frame to pick apart, have fun

call me stupid but what does prices from 6 years ago have to do with anything?
but....since talk of money was brought up
i was brought up to believe you get what you pay for... I was proven wrong when i started to look into purchasing a SH and noticed the build quality, i ran away (and for those of you who know me thats a site! ). Aside to SH’s bottom line...there is no reason they couldn't build a much better bike.
I view the TTM bike as if i were purchasing a BMW "M" car …...if i wanted a custom hand crafted machine by a professional/enthusiast with the lasted in technology at his disposal yet puts the old world style of craftsmanship and personal touch into every machine. That’s what I found when I started looking around. When it comes to TTM there is ZERO compromises with no thought of the bottom line, just the drive to build the ultimate dirt bike.

You don't realize how much work goes into doing a conversion until you do one, especially if you never did one before. If I use my personal contract billing rate my 04 cost a lot more than a SH would
SH fills a particular market segment. Their bikes look pretty well done now and they are the only place that can give you full service for what they sell. If you don't like the price take your money somewhere else.
Why do we need to keep agonizing over this?

I'm trying to keep "Doggin'" out of the thread, and just focus on the facts.AJ wrote:

I find it odd that while several members ( including myself) have expressed concerns over the fit and alignment of the cradle pieces, along with some of the welding..... you have never addressed the situation.
I would have thought you would have shown new tooling or jigs that are correcting the issues....
Nope.
We are all just labeled as bashers, who have a hidden agenda of some kind.
If I comment that in the photo's you tossed up..... that the Radiators look pretty "Frankenstein" .. is that bashing?
For once, right here and now, tell us what refinements we can expect to see in the 2009 edition of your bike.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by once in a while AJ, I do appricate it.
I just hope by doing so that you can pick up a little honest feedback, and improve your product as a result.

As for market segment your point is noted but, I think your wrong my friend about full service.nmdesertrider wrote: SH fills a particular market segment. Their bikes look pretty well done now and they are the only place that can give you full service for what they sell.
AJ I'm glad you chimed in... I would if it were me. Most people just don't have a clue what it costs to just have the "capability" to do conversions in just overhead a month. If I wasn't a well established business I couldn't build bikes and enter the market place as you well know. "You and Service Powersports have set the standard for open bikes" but, You and I have the capability and resources to raise the bar that's what I'm saying why not "Raise the bar" and I'm sure that's what the so called "Bashers" really mean... but, I think you know that.
