I read some threads on planet sand and other forums and it sounds like a wicked uncontrollable beast and the trx trans can't handle the power!

It is! it you had one you'd want to stick your dick in the exhaust port, its so sexy!
I was talking to Bob about putting a trx bottom end in a gen-4 with this jug on and a 200 watt lighting coil 8) I don't think it would be contolable, would make a good dunes only bike

some dudes were saying they couldnt kick it over (95mm piston), and were contemplating remote starters ....but since then i think somebody came up with a special cdi ignition that retards the initial timing alot so you can get it fired up...(same purpose as decompression valve). trx kicks backwards, so a remote starter would almost be mandatory in a 2wheeler, but that motor would kick ass in a GEN 4.

I made a post about this before,I talked to Calvin at CPI he builds the Saber cylinder. He told me there was a guy Mcoy motor shop who was building a 590cc Saber on a CR500 bottom end. I talked to Mcoy about 4 or 5 months ago and he should have it done. Mcoy engine shop he was on planet sand and Calvin Poilet at CPI will give you his #

He was going to run it with a 50mm lectron carb which I so happen to have in the garage.

mccoy was using a different cylinder from what i read...98mm piston. im not sure why he decided on the 98mm cylinder....my guess is, its probly a superior port design to the saber and easier to graft on to the cr500. i called him by phone to confirm the status of this project but i couldnt reach him...and i never called back

So basically what we have here is a new killer jug for a bike that hasn't been built since 89? And also Clyde is getting all this attention because he has a spinning quad cylinder as an avatar. :D
Don't Clyde it, ride it!

I have a CR 500 and A TRX 250 and since this Saber cylinder is a direct bolt on cylinder for a TRX 250r, I don't see how it can be made to work on a 500. I know there are some machinist that can work miracles, but this one I would love to see. The 500 cases are so wide compared to 250's. There's a guy up here in Oregon that grafted a CR 500 cylinder to the bottom end of a 250r and it was a huge amount of cutting and splicing to make it work. Now there are a couple other cylinders that CPI inc has that are in the 95-98 mm bore size that might work (this CPI has a ton of cylinders) but this is something that would need verification. A company up here again in Oregon, Mattoon machine makes billet Yamaha Banshee cases. I know there is a huge twin cylinder that they make to mate with these 95-98 mm cylinders CPI makes. Maybe these cases are designed around a CR 500 base? I think these motors are call the Caracal if I'm not mistaken but again there are a ton of cylinders. I know one of the Saber packages uses a CR 500 rod so Calvin has 95 mm pistons that use 20 mm wrist pins. I know of a guy up here that has a Saber on alky and he kicks it over quite easily without the use of a fancy ignition system (uses a CR 250 stock honda ignition) It's all in the design of the head as far as these large bore motors go for startability.

Your CC's would be 630 if using a 95 mm bore and the stock stroke of the CR 500.

you would be amazed at would you could do with the right tools and knowledge. i seen a KTM 550 or 500 cylinder on a qaudzilla bottom end. but your right, there might be better choices than a saber to graft onto a cr5
