Breaking in new boots

Post by tadiv »

Got a new pair of boots (first legitimate riding boots EVER!). What is the best trick to break them in so I can get enough ankle movement in to shift and break?
Go that way real fast, and if something gets in your way...............

Turn.

Brake? As in stop...

or Break, as in your ankle?

I got wide feet, I coat the boots in saddle oil for the first couple of rides.

Helps stretch them out, and get them pliable.

Once the oil gets soaked up and dries, the leather returns to its former condition.

Works pretty good.

New boots suck. The suggestions above are all good. If you bought cheap boots, you will be breaking them in for a long time!

I usually just ride in them, and they are fine after about an hour or so. But, I don't buy cheap boots.
Too much of a puss for a 500!

I got the Alpinestars Tech 3, I am on a budget and any boot is better than nike when you smack a stump! I like the all rubber sole, but wow are they stiff, like having on a cast. Looks like I just need to throw on some thick socks and go walk the mall with the old folks!
