480 ignition

Post by stevexc500 »

Anyone have any experience with the PVL or HPI ignitions kits for the 480’s?
What about just replacing the source coils? I’m not in need of anything yet, but having some info ahead of time never hurts. Mine will sputter a bit if I rev it a little too far and from what I’ve read that seems to be normal. This is the first one I’ve owned, so is this legit or what?

I haven't run the HPI i bought for the CR5, but the depth of the rotor over the electronics isn't ideal, i should spacer the plate out off the cases to get the source coil further into it.

The stock 480 ignition is a dual source coil right? it should have all the spark energy it's looking for. What plug and gap are you on?
