No turning the stator plate towards the front wheel (anti clockwise) Will retard the ignition...

Turning the stator plate clockwise (opposite direction to crank rotation) Will advance it :)

Hi all, new to banned riders.
Wicked post here on the stator upgrade. Just wondering if I can pick some brains.
I recently acquired a 99 CR250 CDI, stator, flywheel.
The CDI is a KZ3S as is the flywheel.
Looks like the stator is an aftermarket job as there is no markings, it has the 2 block connectors to fit to the CDI but the wires have been cut and re soldered, so a bit bodge.

What i want to know is, whats the difference between the KZ3S Flywheel/stator and the KS3V Flywheel stator combo.
I can get hold of a KZ3V flywheel stator combo, and the stator has the 2 plugs on the end that fit the 99. Bur research shows the KZ3V is from a 00-01 if I'm correct. But the 00-01 had a single plug on the CDI...
The stators all look the same so I am assuming that if it has the 2 plugs it will fit, but are the flywheels any different??? keyway/timing point.

Hoping someone might be able to help clear this up for me.

Hi there, I recently prepared the backplate of a CR250 2001 stator to fit the CR500 crankcase.

Inspired by asteroid500 I gave it a try. As I have no router I needed to be creative, I have a vertical drill press and this old wood 'end-mill':

So I proceeded fixing the stator to the drill plate (removing the coils):

It went quite well, just cutting it very slowly and with a higher speed to avoid 'shattering':

I needed to move the part several times as the end mill is not big enough to cut the entire surface at once. I think the final result is pretty satisfying:

It fit the engine perfect.
Still need to figure out the correct O-Ring for it, It seems like the metric R-27 should be 36,10 x 3,53 mm (I will take some measurements to confirm that.)

Regards :ride:

Looks Good! Shiny
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...
