Bearing race

Post by Tharrell »

So, took the races out of the steering head for sandblasting etc...
How do I get the sum bitches back in without that special tool?
Kinda hoping I could put it together and just tighten the nut, anybody ever do that?

If you still have the old races you could use them to tap on so you dont damage the new ones

Put them in the freezer, or find the perfect socket

Damn, didn't think of the freezer.
That worked for all the other bearings I've installed.
Thanks for the slap on the back of the head.

wouldn't hurt to put a little heat on the steering head too, use a hair dryer just to bring it up 120 or so.
Gen 2 AF, yes it's a SH, so I can call it an AF Damm it!
