Senior MA licence ($285) required, so that means you need to belong to some sort of club so they can endorse you. Entry into Finke race for bikes is $580, you can use club fuel, catering and they will transport your gear to Finke if your out their solo but it will cost you few more bucks. Throw in your accomadation and fuel getting to Alice adds up real quick for non sponsored hacks like myself.
I haven't checked with the boys yet to see who's going but hopefully we will organise our fuel stops otherwise club stops it is.

There and back babeeeeeeee
Just got home yesterday, Day one i had a shit run down and even had to deal with a ute on the track that was throwing so much dust that i couldn't see to get past him but just snuck in under time at Finke. The run home i felt really good and was rounding up alot of tiring riders and the best thing was i didn't come of the old steely once all week.
To me this was all about personal achievement and having a blast with some other blokes down the Finke track.
I even met one of the legends Stephen Greenfield (4 time winner back in in the day) who rebuilt my rear shock on short notice after getting into Alice and finding a leaking seal due to a scratched shock shaft.
Do more of an update later

Seeing that beautiful 490 Maico, I just had a huge nostalgia flashback. ( at least, I think it was the Maico that caused it, not too much acid in the late seventies . . . ?) It's identical to my old baby, only tidier . . . . happy memories ! Oh, and never mind the skinny forks Gravel, they worked quite well for the era . . . . It was the tiny little drum brakes that were truly terrifying ! (Conical hubs were sexy though . . . )
