Gen 3 question. Re: Cutting the Y section out. Pics

Post by MAVERICK66 »

Does this look about right as far as where to cut the Y? Also, for anyone who's done this conversion. How far down the rails should you cut? Im using the billet Y.
TIA!

Which billet Y ?

Jercs?

If you have the new Y you need to eyeball and then nibble away to fit, if you don't have the Y, I'd say cut there to start and no higher until you have the Y to go off of.

You really need to read Jerc's build post on the other site, and mine on this site, and the other site.

The new wye is shorter, and does not have the radiator cross over hole.

the way to position the wye is to use an engine, or preferably a jig that has the head mount, use the head stays you got in the auction and the jig to position the wye

Ok will do. I just was wondering if anyone had a reference point on the rails as far as where to cut them.

I bet the wye you got is shorter, the part above the exhaust port, don't use that photo for reference as to where to cut. also i doubt that is the stock radiator mount location.

You may be right as the Y Ive got does not have the hole in the middle.

Can you put up some pics of the billet Y?

I'd love to see that Y used on a 250 gen3 just to see what it would work as.

Should be a nice build!
