Vortex Ignition

Post by cmotodad »

Does anyone run this ignition? If so, what are the results of the change. Good, bad, no change. Thanks, Bob

I have this ignition on mine. I'm running it with a 2000 CR250
stator and flywheel.

Unfortunately, I can't give you any info on changes since I
started out with it. I can tell you it has a lot of capability
in regards to multiple maps available. I have a hybrid 2000
CR250 map that compensates for the differences between
the 250 and 500 pulse generator location.

If you are rolling in dough, you can buy a programmer and
software from Vortex and create your own, or you can do
like I did and take it to a friend that has one and let him
do the work while you provide the beers. Also, Vortex will
reprogram your ignition, just tell them what you want.

I used to run JD ignitions on my 250s and this is every bit as
good.

Are you running a stock 500 ignition with the vortex? I am running an analog 250 on my bike and like the light flywheel effect. Wondering if a 500 vortex map is good with this ignition.

Thanks,
the rep said the maps are basically the same. Not sure where to go with this.

if you get one get vortex to put this map on it, change the 8000+ if you want, but the important part of the map is the 250-1000 rpm
the lime green one
fixed it

the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.
