Steelie frame differences

Post by Gmbond »

Is there any obvious differences between a 1991 frame and a 1993/1994 frame?

I've got a 1991 cr500 and the 10th in the VIN is R which shows it up as a 1994 ?

The bike is quite obviously a 1991, and I'm surprised how many differences there are on other parts than the 1994 and 1995 I had before. But the actual frame itself I'm not 100% sure on any differences.

Thanks guys

89' was an oddball year, but I believe 90' and newer pretty much interchange.

The subframes and swingarms with linkage are different but other than that they are close enough. I can't tell the difference at all. My bike has had 1990, 1992, 1994, and currently a 1997 frame and everything bolted to all of them. I just keep replaceing them as I squish the tubes flat. If there is a difference I couldn't tell by looking at it or by riding it.
