88 motor problematic or OK

First, Greetings from the other side, long time no post.

18 months ago I was abducted by aliens and only recently rescued by the mother ship.

I returned to find my AF and other CR500 sold 'cept an 88.

It has a broken right case around the kicker but I do have a 'extra' case. Is that going to be an on-going issue with the 88 case that should preclude me from using that motor in a new AF project or should I HTFU and get to work?
