Do I cut below the welds on the Y section to get the ends of the cradle and down tube out? I figured if i did it would weaken the total strength of the Y by taking away too much material.

Did anyone find white crystals inside the down tube when they cut it.. It was kinda weird when i cut the tube it hissed and some potient smelling fluid leaked out...

mine was spotless...

As far as cutting below the weld. I cut just at the base of the weld. making sure I had a decent amount of pocket left. Here is the amount of downtube that I had to remove.
