I'd have to pull it down to get to the scratch and sniff part.

Sorry Roostius,

I'll take Bobs respirator idea over yours - though I think it might be a good idea to fit it different to the pic, and not just so you can see. :D

Started the shroud mount placement today. Still haven't measured the capacity or checked for leaks. There's a chance I may hit the yard/snow tomorrow.

Pretty much done. Have the petcock mounted and going to fill it with water. A buddy may give me a set of CRF white plastic for my AF as I burned up the right side shroud tacking one of the mounts to the tank.

Just curious... how much does that tank weigh?

I'll check it tonight but it's no featherweight to be sure. I used .125 and .090 on a lot of it except the curved sides and very bottom which warped that were .062. The part where the seat covers is .250 as I wanted some threads without getting close to punching through.

Need to put a number plate on it and have to use 6mm threaded rod for the shift lever bolt as it won't go in from the bottom. Should take it up the road and into the woods for a spell.

Took the 5 hunny on its maiden voyage. There were lots of loose bolts but it went great. She's a beast.

My life turned to shit last Saturday. Went to start the Hoon and the kick mechanism fucked up resulting in busting the right case out taking the new late model primary case with it. It's a good thing there weren't any demonstrations going on in my neighborhood after that happened or I might have gone postal. Put all of my 500 engine stuff along with tank and everything for the conversion up on Craigslist yesterday in Birmingham, AL. Got a buddy who wants to do some horse trading if it doesn't sell. Already have a fresh modded 02 YZ250 in it and ready to weld mounts plus I have a 285 jug for it. Won't be the same but the wind really left my sails last weekend.

Shit man, 2 years in the making, get to ride 2 weeks and calling it quits?
pull your add, fix the beast and give it some more thought.
This is one of those things you'll look back on and kick your self for. it will probably cost less to fix than the cash you'll lose selling a non running bike!

I appreciate the encouragement and I didn't even think about April Fools Day, but having this happen kicked my ass. Haven't got a call so it may survive my blues for another try. It's just a sick feeling.

If anyone has the skill to weld and reinforce the cases I'd say its you man. Look at some of the awesome repair work Roosty has done to mangled cases. I'm sure you can do it, I know the feeling when something you've worked so hard on all goes to shit but this is just metal and can be fixed or replaced.

Thought you were taking the piss out of us
Just stick it to one side for a while, you'll get back to it at some stage, like the others are saying it would be a shame to ditch all that hard work for fuck all dollars by selling it.

How much to ship your headache up to Canada?
I've been wanting a newer AF for awhile.
That's worth $1000 any day up here.

I'll split the cases and check into possibly welding the damaged one or replace it. It's going to take a while and it sucks.
