85' mugen

I am in the process of putting together an 85' mugen 125. It is a long term project, to put it lightly. I have a few simple plans for it to make it a bit different than the usual. I'm wanting to run a set of 91' forks with a set of 87' wheels for the gold rims. Rear disc would be nice but we'll see how that goes. Currently I'm wanting to put the larger radiator and shroud on the left side like the old works bikes had. On my 125 tank the 85' shroud is close to proper fitment. My brother has an 86' 250 tank that I wonder if it is a closer fit. Has anyone out there done this? Does anyone know the tank capicity for the 85' 125 and the 86' 250? Thanks!

As I remember...weren't the Mugens white?

I have seen pics of them in both colors, few pics of 85'-86' but a fair assortment of 87' in both colors. I'd like the aluminum tank, WP suspension but I'm going for a budget friendly set up. If anyone comes across any pics or info, I would appreciate it!

Hm, the red bike has rims like an 88' but pro link logo's like an 87' ? Also the 6 bolt rear hub, unlike the whit bike with a 4 bolt hub ? What year was the 6 to 4 bolt change ?

The 6 bolt rear hub is an 87/88 and the 4 bolt rear is from an 89-01.

The 89 rear hub shares the same bearings as the 87/88 rear hub.

So far the easy way to run the 500 shroud on the mugen bike is to run a 250 tank on it. I like the 125 right side shroud better, plus I may have clearance issues on the pipe if I run the 250 tank. If I could only cut the 125 and 250 tanks down the middle I'd be set ! Any ideas ? Maybe I should just cut and paste the shroud ? Does anyone have any experience with joining plastic with durable results ? Thanks

I found a set of the WP usd's on an 88' ktm 125 in the bay area. I need those forks ! I have the shock, just have to see what the budget looks like.

It's getting there slowly. Next big step is to mount up the pedal. I will use an 87' subframe with the bent leg to clear the master.
