The Installation SwiftLock Floating Floor

Picked up the SwiftLock Floating Floor at Lowes on Sunday. Excellent Customer Service and that was the deciding factor to shop at Lowes vs. HomeDepot Everyone Ran away when approached, will probably never shop there again!!!!!!



Letting the wood acclimate to it's new home per the advice of my buddy who is going to help me out tomorrow and per the manufacture's instructions. My friend Joe does this for a living and is going to help me out, I've worked with him on many construction projects.

Pain in the A$$ to remove by myself!!! should have cut into smaller pices like the hallway's....


Halway's were loaded with ease!!! The Living room was a pain in the ass because i removed it whole and was solo!!! I was too tired to even take a picture of it in the truck. i will take one tomorrow.

I have been unimpressed with that style of flooring so far. doesnt wear too well, nothing like a real hardwood floor.

if i installed that stuff, as soon as i was done, the thing would get sanded down and polyurethane coated. its easier to sand the poly smooth every 5 years and recoat than it is to replace the floor.
our hardwood floor is 8 years old now.....still looks awesome. its due for a scuff/repolyurethane next summer to keep it sealed up from moisture, you know how those floors like to move.

cant beat good ol wood! best part is, we built the house ourselves within our family/friends.




your project is coming along nicely so far.....i woke up one morning 9 years ago, dad said to get our shit cleared out of our room (my sister and bother shared the same small room with me). we got the bedrooms cleared out, and he got on the roof, sawzalled the house in half and pulled that half down with his truck......took some doing, that old block house was SOLID. then the build began....he obviously had been planning....was a complete surprise for me. it needed to be done though....5 people in 800 or so sq. foot was cramped!

Not the House I plan on retiring in. I agree to a certain extent and Wood is the best but not willing to install in this house at this time. I have used Pergo and SwiftLock in my mom and grandmothers house it's held up fine for the last 11 years and the finish looks like the day we installed it. Due to her following the manufacture's instrution's on care of the flooring.

it all depends on the traffic the swiftlock sees.....pets and kids spilling stuff on it = disaster. in those cases, a coating on it will definitely keep it enduring for many more years.

and carpet is by far the worst thing ever in a house, especially if you have allergies.

As much traffic as our wood has seen, we would be on our second carpet by now easily. the hardwood was more expensive up front, but it has already saved us money. 10-12 grand in that floor for 3 large rooms, or it was roughly 8 grand for good carpet......no brainer here!

Thanks for the tip. I'll post some pictures of it all finished up. We are also installing carpet in the rooms on Sunday. I'm letting Lowe's due That having a speciel on StainMaster $39 bucks installed (entire House for that price!!!!)

Thanks Hoofarted, Install the laminate flooring on the steps themselves or Maybe do hard wood on the stairs and stain it to match the bottom floor???
