Katherine 4hr ironman enduro 18/7/2010 "Australia mate&

Post by asteroid500 »

Well we went down south on sunday, 300km's to Katherine for there 4hr endurance race.
Roostmaster took out his recently purchased CR-500, me on my old faithful, black betty-ramble amm CR-250/97, & another mate of mine Matty Johnson on his YZF-450/05.

I did'nt do too good, i got a puncture inside the 2nd hr & try'd to continue on a flat front but it was dangerous as hell & i'd only of buggered my front wheel in the process...by the way i used a Michelin Desert tyre as it's supposed to be the goods in the enduro race formats, gave me the best confidence iv'e had in my my front end ever...also ran a 14/48 drive line  how fast was that :D

Roostmaster came in 2nd over all & with Matty coming 3rd.
The locals must of thought were did these bloody trophy hunters come from.
Roosty hadnt ridden big rides in over 1 1/2yrs & it showed on his body at the end of the race.

Matty hit a kangaroo at full throttle crashing heavily :stretcher: & throwing in the towel but we egged him on & he was suprised to finish were he did.
Another compeditor also hit a roo, out come unknown
Enjoy the pics.....

& he knew this would happen but still went on.....

The corse incorperated the local MX track...Roosty # X, belive it or not he's just landed 60ft table top...check his dust cloud.

Image
1/2 of the field...asteroid & roostmaster far right, we were in the middle.

I took a while before i smiled our crew could of pulled a 123 for the day....bugger. :D
Speacial thanks to Feebee, Briannah, Bronny & Jo for a great day in the dust....bring next year on. Matt/Scott you 2 suck

Out at Katherine, you'd be dealing with Reds?

I've only hit our local greys , and wallabies - that was bad enough. Hitting a big red would not be fun!

In the mid / late 80s, I hit 2 wombats out at Kanangra Walls, (on 2 separate rides) The first one destroyed my front wheel, the second one, the wheel, forks and frame. They're like hitting a midget Mack truck.

Each time, we searched around in the scrub, to make sure they weren't hurt, each time the furry little fuckers were just waddling along, with a look on their mugs like "what the fuck are you looking at ? Piss Off !!!! "

Tough little buggers.

Good report, on ya , Asteroid & Roosty.

Hey guys, just got on the net for the 1st time in ages, being home and busy with the bikes etc,

Cool report Asteroid, yeh the roo's where thick, just missed 2 myself and nearly hit a dingo but was worried it would steal my baby ;)

Those blisters I got are still really bad a week later, I didnt get them from riding 4hrs hard on a CR500 though, they are from how happy I was at how the new bike went!!!!!!!!

I tell ya what guys, the best part I loved was how the ole girl against 40 odd other bikes can still be a formidable weapon, the roost reports I got where cool, some dudes came up to me after telling how I overtook them with milk crate size rocks hitting them in the process!

Long live the mighty CR500!

Hey Asteroid, wanna touch my trophy????? ;) ;) :)
I have been to the top of the mountain and yes it is good.
