Hi, New hoon in town. Building up a steelie with assorted year parts '98 street legal frame, '96 motor,'91 other bits.
Thanks to local hoon/parts hoarder extraordinare kball1313 for setting me up with the basics.
Stripped everything down, sandblasted and powder coated frame. New piston, bearings in, installed Dakar light kit after fabbing up some brackets. Currently waiting for supermoto wheels and fabbing up 320 mm brake set up.

nice. if your thinking of using it for road use(which it looks like it will) you might want to go a bit rich on the main jet to prevent seizure.

I've got to say, Honda's do look so 'right' in red.
I'm tempted to drop the trashed white plastics on my CRE and go to red , if I can find matching red plastics. I use Gen 3 radiator shrouds over my alloy tank, and as I 'm thinking of repainting the frame, doing the frame and tank in red would look fittingly old school. The trouble is, that would look trashed as well in a very short time. I guess I'm just showing my age, as 'Honda' always makes me think of Red. The flat gold of the rear hub looks good - reminiscent of traditional magnesium paint finishes.
Why the big offset on the UFO headlight? - our CREs here in OZ came with that headlight, but with the short mount plates. Is there a battery holder behind it, or something else? Just curious.
The lighting kit is a Electrosport Dakar kit and the big offset behind the head light houses the circuit board and assorted connectors. Not really happy about the weight of it either by it is what it is.
Ya, red is the only colour for a CR for me. I'll be putting yellow number plates on and probably a blue seat cover so it'll looking pretty retro by the time I'm done.

Very true. Most of the time i'm on the road, you get to 4th gear quick around town, then you're barely on the throttle-just barely cracked. Over 1/2 is your main and needle. There's never a load-like sand or mud I mean so there's rarely a time you're on the throttle more unless you're leaving from a stop, out of a corner of just being a maniac. So the biggest factor is the weather. Hot, cold, humid. Just jet it like you would any other bike.
My AC supermoto has about 3000 miles on it and my old steely probably had 10000.
BTW- it's nice to not have to leave my shop when I need a new plug, wheel, cylinder, any size piston, fresh crank, gasket set hahaha

Actually I discovered there is a battery located inside that big plastic housing, integral with the circuit board and connectors. I was wondering why it weighed so much! So that is why it sticks out 3 " from the forks.
The Electrosport manual vaguely referenced a battery but provided no clue to its location. Weatherproof for sure but a bitch to get at....
