I get pretty much the same mileage as the 250s i ride with for what thats worth.

I have a chance to ride on a 35 mile single track loop and mine has the stock tank. Most of my riding is short trails that end up back close to the truck. On this 35 mile loop it wold be a long push back to the truck if I did not make it.

I think you'll make 35 miles easy. I've done 50 mile loops on my 500 when it was a steelie. And that was with a lot of open fire-road type trails. With the desert tank, I've done 70+ and still have plenty left over.

If you're still unsure, carry a clean Gatorade bottle filled with fuel in your backpack.

I tend to keep pretty good track of mileage, as when I'm able to ride, i do a lot of long distance trail.
It is all in how you ride, gearing and jetting.

Last yr on the 476 mile mega loop, my basically stock, 15/48 geared 01 returned an average of 28 MPG. It was a combination of mostly single track with some more open fire roads, and a few gravel roads and a touch of pavement. I was running the PJ with a 52 pilot, 172 main, and the stock needle on the 4th. I'd say if you're ridin the single track, you'll be safe estimating 23 mpg at the very least, or about 55 miles to empty on the stock tank.

The best of gotten without being throttle happy is 150 k's for 13 litres, so just over 10k's / litre.

I've gotten 85 miles out of my Clarke 4 gallon tank, that's while riding super conservatively.

I should clarify a bit, i burned up a full tank plus 2 quarts that was in my backpack - dasani water bottles (total about 2.5 gallons, stock gen 3 tank is about 2 gal) in 20 clicks of fire road and 25 clicks of nasty mountain trails and i mean gross technical shit and a ton of rocks 27 ish miles total. about 11 MPG at 6000 feet give or take a few hundred depending where we were, pj carb 50 pilot 175 main 1368 pos needle on second. this was brutal crap, i wouldnt hesitate to give a milder 35 mile loop a go on a tank, especially with a leaner needle on the low end. i dont usually keep track but this occasion had a gps and was out when i got to the truck. An 01 yz250 with us ran out, put reserve in. 08 YZF 450 was almost dry 07 rmz 450 was almost dry and a 03 kx125 was out, reserve in. couple of 250 fs had near half a tank left so did the husaberg 450 with us.
