I just got done reading in the November 2007 issue a shootout between an 2008 CRF450 and a 2001 CR500. Can you guess the results? Talk about biased!! Their test rider said if the motor could have been stuffed in a newer chassis it would have been better, but I guess that wasn't an option in their minds. So of course the 450 won.
At least they kept the mystique of the 500 alive though by reporting it's power was unreal!!
I made a quick PDF of it if any of you want to read it, just PM me and I'll give you my webaddress where I uploaded the file.

Question is; what was/is the real motive in doing such a thing. I can see a comparision with an AF.moto863 wrote:I just got done reading in the November 2007 issue a shootout between an 2008 CRF450 and a 2001 CR500.

That is a wierd comparison imo. A 7 year old machine with basically 17 year old techknowlogy against a brand new machine that has been getting yearly refinements since '02? And my guess is they compared them on a track huh? How about a comparison in open desert racing, or woods? Sure the 450 would still win, but at least it would make more sense because the cr500 hasn't been a track bike since '93.
Don't Clyde it, ride it!
