Radiator tank ?

Are the top and bottom tanks on the radiators separate from the core itself? If it is, is there a gasket between the two? It looks like it was press fit on, see pic below.

The reason I ask is that my welder is hesitant to weld a crack on the tank because he believes he will ruin the gasket (if any) when he does.[/img]

the whole thing is furnace welded with a paste, no gaskets in it
Seen some dudes weld almost til the fins

what year of rad is that?

deidnt think 97s were black, either way, gotta be lots arround

There was a time when they weren't black. The guy I bought the bike from rattle canned everything black,
