In the process of having black excels laced up & black fork guards put on. She'll look pretty sweet after that.

Here is some pics of my Finner undergoing a "mild" resto a few weeks ago.Everything came off the frame except for the front end.The steering feels good so I left it alone.Never taken one apart and didn't feel that brave.
I don't feel bad for painting for the frame red, I hate orange! Besides all my plastic is black except the number plates{do they come in black for the 84}and I like a black and red theme better.
The bike is finished, but it's apart again too fix a frayed throttle cable.Soon as thats done I will post a pic of the complete bike.

I thought the 480 had the kicker on the left, I believe that is a 500.

500's are water cooled, those old pink kings are 480's. ring ding ding ding ding, dong dong dong dong is the last thing you hear before they make you go deaf. :D Just kidding, I get a kick out of saying that stuff, especially on the other board where there is some guy from San Diego called 84cr500lover or something, that dude gets all bent outta shape. Tell him how they overheat and have the rake of a chopper and he fricken losses it. HEHEHE! But anyway, nice garage queen.

It's a 1984 CR500. The 1983 CR480R had the pipe and kicker on the left-hand side and did not have a disk brake and cooling shroud. I am thinking the fork boots should match the seat. But very nice and clean. 50/50 C-12 sorts out the pinging....

yes, it is an '84 500. The "500" on the swingarm is actually painted on, not a sticker. And the fork boots in '84 were black. I have an old dealer brochure that proves it. In '85 the fork boots went blue to match the seat.

"50/50 C-12" ? what is that? Mine does ping a bit when letting off the throttle.

And for all you water-cooled guys: dont come crying to me when your waterpump housings are leaking and rotted out...

Garage Queen? No... but it may as well be, cuz riding areas in SE Wisconsin are damn near non-existent .
