I had one of the Oregon Scientific cameras and wasn't real impressed.

I bought a GoPro HD Hero at a trade show earlier this month and while I haven't used it in action yet, it seems impressive just goofing around with it.

Go Pro appears to be on their way to being the iPod of the helmet cam market. Good news is they work real well. Bad news is that they'll have a new version out every year, that'll make you wished you waited.

HA HA HA!!!
I'd really like to see one mounted towards the back!
I'd probably get queezy seasick if it was someone who could do all the big jumps and whips. Probably be like riding in the back of the family station wagon back in the day!
Anyone know of a vid with it mounted on the back?

yeah, speaking of which, I'll sell my old (1yr) Go Pro so I can buy a new HD model...not that its crap - it isnt. Just the HD has some nice new features I like.

I'm gonna get one of those. I spent some time on the Gopro site today checking them out.

From what i can gather launch helmet cams are the best, i tried the VHOLDR cam but it stopped working after riding on wet trails, having said that i might have just bought a faulty unit

I have a gopro, and it is a good value. The video is good. The housing is excellent. Two of the mounts broke without reason, but gopro is standing behind the product and sending out two more. I would recommend it.

I have a Gopro wide in standard resolution and its just ok.

I recently picked up a veho Muvi for $70 shipped and its better than the Gopro in every criteria I care about. I may buy another one to film forward and aft!

there is nothing better than that new gopro HD camera, the internet cant do it justice
the additional piggyback part that wirelessly feeds streaming video to a reciever is beyond excellent too

I got one of the Gopro 960's.
They had them at Costco.

The ride started out misting, but then it was a light rain.
The rain on the lens kind of screwed up the footage.

We got into heavier rain & the inside of the housing fogged up.
It was a wet day.
I think they have moisture absorbent pieces you can stick in the housing.

I ate it going about 40.
Smacked my helmet & back pretty hard.
Thank God for chest protector & full gear.

I didn't expect to find the camera anywhere near me, but it was still in the mount, on top of my helmet. Mount was rotated back, but it was still on.

They are more durable than I thought they would be...

Iv used the Vholder HD version mounted on the side of my helmet and the image quality is very nice. One down side of the Vholder is the downloading and editing programs are junk. But to me if you ride tight trails its way less likely to get knocked of from a tree than the huge Gopro's.

Yeah, I bought the Vholder Contour HD.
It's pretty good and is very small and compact but, the weak point is the editing software.
It's such a pain in the ass that I rarely use it anymore.
I'm still looking for a program that is easier to use.

For the contour, if all you want to do is cut sections out or paste them together, Quicktime Pro does that handily and is only $20. If you want to get fancier, I got nothin for ya.

happy with my go pro.. and the sticky mount will rip the paint off your helmet before it lets go, then you can jb weld it
the 450 will have less power and will be harder to start, and will be heavier, but to make up for it it will require more maintenance.
