Works Connection Skid Plate Gen 1

Post by Exnav »

It was a bitch to get on and will need one of the mounts clearanced because the 500 takes up more space than the 250 obviously. Probably would have installed easier prior to the conversion. Does anyone run the foam that these come with? Instructions say to install foam after it's mounted, but that shit don't work.

I run one on my 2002 CRF450 conversion. I had to relocate one of the mounts due to clearance and was able to get the foam in. The biggest problem for me was trying to get the oil drain hole cut so it would line up with the drain bolt where I could get a socket on the bolt.

Drain doesn't look to be an issue. I guess the foam is to keep mud and debris from packing in there. I wash my stuff after every ride anyway, so I don't know that it needs to be in there.

Yeah, that's the idea. My problem was I bought one for a CRF so the drain hole was in the wrong place, but I didn't have to make it fit. Since I had to drill another hole, the foam works great because I'd have a ton of crap up in there to clean out.
