Looking for a new rear tire

Ok......my M5B has about had it.........what do you guys like for soft/intermediate terrain......like 85% soft and 15% intermediate ?? Before the M5B I had a Mich S-12...and if can recall it chunked too easily.

I might get another M5B, but Im open to other suggestions.

i prefer the desert IT for well the desert

seems to be a good all around tire for what we have in my parts of the world.. cant wait to give the ol 500 a go on the snore course out by primm when i get it together

Dunlops on mine. They are wearing great. Need to flip the back around though you can tell which way it spins easy now. Had it on there for 6 months and it gets alot of road wear.

I've used Maxxis IT and the SI and loved both they last all season with the rear getting flipped around at some point (weekend warrior rider) just to change it up alittle I'm currently running Michelin Starcross MS2 and so far so good. Big "M" knobs in the middle of the tire really gets the bike hooked in a straight line. Leaves deep ruts, long wheelies and big smiles.

Too many choices !! I think Ill try the Dunlop 952, or the Starcross, or the SI, or another M5B...........

I agree 100%, mick doohan use to do that on the last lap if he had a decent lead

Ive ran dunlop 756 and the maxxis desert IT, the dunlop doesnt last at all and the maxxis was so hard it just din't hook.

The best tire Ive run so far is the 140/80 18 michelin S12, it hooks like no other but it is chunking pretty bad since I spun it around

Yup...

And when used appropriately I think they wear just fine. Here in Florida my 756s hold up great. But I know up in Idaho they'd only look this good for 3-4 rides

Yeah, it's all about what terrain you ride and how you ride it. I had the same experience. I kept reading about people saying the 756 was the shiznit. So I put a set on my hunny and thought they were total crap. I miss the Metzeler front tires that were affordable.

I'm still experimenting with front tires, but the M5B is where its at on the rear for me.

I'm currently running the maxis desert it and its a decent tire for me. I ran a 756 on my steelie after I killed my m22 (which was a great tire BTW) and it was a wonerful tire and difinitly hooked up better than the maxis, but I had to flip it after 2 rides because of the rocky gnarly shit we ride in. the maxis holds up well to the rocks, but doesn't hook up as well.

Michigan for the most part is really sandy soil, I've got S12's front and rear on my bike. No complaints at all, I even ran it at the dunes back in April and it had enough hook to yank the front wheel in 3rd. I have about 8 rides on it and it's wearing alright, too. My buddies in PA only get 10-15 rides on a rear tire because of how nasty the terrain is...

Elsewhere, yeah. but everyplace I ride here doesn't have rocks or tree roots, so tires last longer, same thing my buddies have noticed. Besides, I twist the throttle like a flaming vagina.

I'm trying out a Michelin Starcross MH3 --> a guy I met said its the "tire"

So far it hooks up well==> decent cornering. 2 rides and the knobs haven't started rounding yet (make no mistake its already moved a lot of dirt)

I liked the 756 rear but it only lasts about average. (trying to find a long lasting tire --relatively speaking)

On the front I used to love the K-490 -but its out of production so now I use the 742f --> and I quite like it works great in intermediate terrain.

p.s oh ya I not 100% sure but the starcross might only come in a 19"
