F@#$@%##$ing robots!!!!

Post by MojoScojo »

We got taken down by bingbot not playing by the rules and ignoring the server directives I put in place for search engine indexing.

Bingbot is now BANNED from reading bannedcr500riders.

Leave it to Microsoft to not play by community rules. Assholes.

I never used bing for my search engine. I will now STRONGLY discourage anyone else from doing so as well.

Seems like the 500 fury and conversions are dying down, guys who used to build bikes for a living have left, guys put together steelies but seems they are mostly as models and rarely used. Maybe the party is over and maybe the 500 sites will die but until the last day I ride a motorcycle in the dirt my primary go to bike for singletracking will be a steel framed CR500 and if I go to the dunes what other choice is there. I hope the site lives on Bob but if for some reason it doesn't it has been a pleasure meeting and riding with some of the people here.

2 stroke 500 for life here.....25 years on a CR500 and counting. Everyone always asks if I'm ever going to get a new bike, NOPE!!!!!

I hope the 500 sites don't die out  ...I'm turning 50 in May and plan to ride my 500 until I'm just too old to handle it any more ....then I'll get a 250 smoker....no 4-strokes for this old man.

They're not going anywhere. there's been a huge surge in 500 popularity in the past 5 years. Just look at the availability of bikes left. Prices arent what they used to be.

Google doesn't even index the home page, anymore. If you were trying to kill site traffic, that's a good way to do it.

I started writing a long response to that, but then I realized you probably wouldn't "get it".

The short version:
Search directives have been in place since the site was like 2 months old. It has essentially never been willingly indexed. So we've become what we are without google's help at all.

If Roosty wants to pay more in bandwidth fees due to indexing simply to attract a crap ton of trolls like other sites, that's up to him.

I wouldn't do it. I've seen what happens.
