Tall guys...

Post by M.F.D.B. »

If you are a big dood and use tall bars and off set clamps be carefull to keep you hands as close to the center line of the forks. Its easy to use forward offsets and roll your bars far forward. It may feel great in the garage but it will beat you up and tire you out quicker on the trail...

I have several rides on these.... WAY more comfortable, back dosent hurt, great steering response, probably 3x faster through whoops....

I cant think of a single negative from my perspective.

Big Jay likes them too..... he has a set twice as tall!

The "swinging" back and forth is supposed to change the steering behavior and use extra muscle force to get the same work done. But my experience is the effect is not HUGE but noticeable at different levels depending on rider...

Fixed it for ya.

Not to mention land with the body to far forward and you may find yourself looking for a soft place to tuck and roll.

I run my bars high and far forward. No extra fatigue problems for me. And they help keep me from flying over the bars.

When racing, and standing, your head should be pretty far forward (around the front number plate area). With shorter bars and rotated back, I'm nowhere near as supported.
Too much of a puss for a 500!

If you got the clams, http://www.fasstco.com/products/flexx.shtml get the 116mm "ATV" bars, they are about 1" taller then the bike bars...

These are the "Quad Bend, 12 degree sweep" Flexx bars...

Totally worth the money, as long as you dont crash and bend them...

You take the tops of your bar clamps, flip them under the bars and put another pair on top. All you need is a set of 4 longer bolts (and of coarse an extra set of clamps, which most people have already)...
