would anyone mind taking some head tube measurements?

Post by louis mielke »

Does anyone have a steely 2001 cr500 frame sitting around that they can get some accurate measurements of the head tube dimensions?

overall bottom to top measurement of the head tube, and how deep the bearing race bores are? I'm trying to avoid disassembling my bike to get the measurements.

Doesn't have to be an '01 but I would prefer the newer year race sizes, I think all balls shows their kits fit 90-01, so any of those years should work.

looks like the bore diameters should be 47mm on top and 51mm on the bottom. the depth of each bore would be helpful.

I believe i have a 2001 steel frame from a CRE500:

head tube height is 184.5mm

lower bearing bore is 14.8mm depth x outside diameter 47mm

upper bore depth is 14.8 depth x OD 47mm

Allballs kit #22-1018. I bought it for a 1994 frame has 2 different bearing diameters of 47 and 51 :?

this kit fits: CR125 90-92, CR250 90-91, CR500R 90-01, XR650R 00-07

i can strip down my 1994 frame to confirm, i need to do it anyway.

Yep, it was a pretty tongue-in-cheek question . . . . That thing is worth more than gold to a standard CR500 owner !
