I did an 03 450 and like it more every time I ride it. The cr250s are probably easier but the good thing about the crfs is a good roller should be real easy and cheap to find since the 4 stroke motors are a POS.

The crf250 comes to mind. Pretty much a waste of material if you ask me.

I know you said you didn't want to replate but this place does great work and may do sleeves also but i'm not sure. I would replate but everyone has their own opinion. I've had 2 cyl. done by them and both have come back looking better than new. About $200.00.

I posted this in the sticky at the top of the page. Maybe nobody is seeing it there, so i'll try here. I know its a long way off and the economy is in a world of shit but, is there plans for 2010? I would love to come out and ride with some people that know the land. Also, is there any requirements ...

I did a search on Race Techs web site. 97 cr500 and 01 cr500 share the same KYB forks.

This may or may not be of any help at all but, my conversion is a 03 crf450 using 05 crf450 triple clamps. The clamps are the same size fork hole. Only thing different is the mount hole for front number plate. I had the bike all done except waiting on my forks to get back from the suspension guy. So...

Depending on how much you've been kicking, it may be flooded. For it's first start of the day I give 3-5 primer slow roll thru kicks. Then roll kick until it hits TDC and hold lightly until it barely rolls past, stop and let kicker return fully back up then give a full swift kick. Mine will start fi...

Here it is all done for now. Thinking about all white plastic in the future but this is it for a little while. This thing has put me in the dog house more than a few times already as my honey do list has been put on the back burner. I'm going to have to get caught up on that now. Pictures are kind o...

Yes, you could do the heating and then oil quench to gain some hardness but you said you used mild steel which is a general term. It most likely has a very low carbon content and wouldn't pick up much hardness anyway. I think in your application I would just use as is. $.02

I've never bent aluminum before so I don't know if it kills strength. Yes it does. If you are going to bend or form it needs to be in annealed T0 condition then re aged. If you are going to buy some and make it, see if you can find some already @ T0. Then you can make it and then age it in your ove...

do you have a pic of the cr500 filter in the box.how does it fit,is it tight going in and how tight is it in the air box? I haven't even compared 450 vs 500 filters but I think the 500 is smaller and more round in shape. Zorak, I looked last night and yes, 500 filter is smaller. Not so much top to ...

do you have a pic of the cr500 filter in the box.how does it fit,is it tight going in and how tight is it in the air box? No I don't, but will try and get one up in the next few days. There is plenty of room inside the box. The filter does fit a little lower and very slightly to the left of center ...

Here is how I did the radiators. The stock 500 hoses from the head to rads work perfect with no mods. On the bottom, ever part used is from the 450 except for the 1/2" copper elbow. I searched a couple of hardware stores and auto supplies looking for some fittings to make it a little cleaner bu...

The crossover hose connecting the two on the bottom would also cause a problem.
