I came within a hair's breath of buying a CZ380 a couple of years ago here in Arkansas. I bid up to $300, and it went for $500 if I remember right. Bike was all there and didn't look bad. Engine was free but hadn't been started in several years. I want an old CZ https://bannedcr500riders.com/images/...

Agreed--and I should have mentioned that my jetting requirements are probably leaner than his. But don't you think a 58 is probably fat in any setup?

FTR, 40.5 PWK, Boyeson RadValve, and major league porting. Yes, it surprised me how lean I had to jet the bike.

I think that's a very rich pilot jet. I'm running a 42 pilot at 300 feet elevation. Starts first kick and idles great.

Brilliant! Thanks! Will definitely put some thought into this. I think I've got room for a bigger foot paddle. I've not had a foot slip since I ground some rough edges into the stock kicker a couple of weeks ago, but I still think about it every time I kick it over. My last slip was three weeks ago,...

Spark Plug Tech

Can anyone explain the different types of NGK plugs and what is the logic behind the different designs? (I.e. "eg" vs. "es" vs whatever else there is).

Also, what are some of you guys running for plugs on modified engines on gasoline?

Thanks!

Completely disregarding political persuasions, President Obama has to be the most unqualified person to ever be President of the United States of America. Jimmy Carter was more qualified, and I didn't think that was possible.

Just a thought, had your top bolt backed out or something and got that thing to twist in the past, had a crack for a while and then it finally did this. Negative, I'm pretty sure. I had everything apart this winter and inspected the steel pretty close. Some of you will remember when I posted pictur...

My '85 engine has been running a 48 pilot, which I think is probably 2 sizes too rich. It never needs choke to start, and starts on the first kick if the temp is below 90*. On 98* days, I can't start it cold with the kicker if my life depended on it, but it will bump start. When the engine is hot, I...

If your bike has a too rich pilot in it, you may have trouble starting it when the engine is hot unless you open the throttle some. I've learned this on my bike while I waited for the right pilot jets to come in the mail.

X2 on the changing the plug also.

Kicker Questions

My kicker is killing me. At least once every weekend ride, my foot will slip off the kicker because the aluminum is slick. This always results in a nasty bruise on my instep, and also on the side of knee where the point of the kicker catches my leg going down. It's funny, but I'm seriously worried a...

I'd vote for a President who would promise and could deliver on not sending another American dollar to any foreign country until we became energy independent. That $30+ billion could go along way toward helping this country with our crippling energy issues.

First track ride on the '88

I've had this bike running since February, but due to circumstances have not got to ride it, except for a couple of times around the yard. Took it to the track yesterday for the first time--this is also my first time to ride a 500 on a track. The bike was clearly the fastest bike on the track (with ...

I would have put me and the bike out in the air, but the perspective would have been off, and the ramp is too high in the field of view. It would have looked better if we would have PS'd the shadow in also. Anyhow, I put it on Facebook and fooled my wife.!

CRF250R Parts

I'm trying to recoop some of the cost of this bike by parting out the good engine parts. I'll put these on Ebay by the middle of the week, but hoons get first crack and a discount. PM me if you need anything and I promise not to out you as a closet 4-stroke rider. Here's the list with hoon prices. I...
