I have a 500 powered snowbike. My only real problem so far is cooling on spring days...hopefully handled with a thermostat and a tunnel cooler. Other than that my bike was flawless and worked perfect.

You are starting with a tear down of your top end, most likely getting it rebuilt again, this time making sure all machining is done correct. Machining needs to be done with a torque plate, exhaust bridge needs to be relieved, machine work should be done to your piston specs and piston should be pro...

All your stuff should run fine, check out Alisobobs jetting thread for PWK stuff, ace that flywheel weight, check the alignment of your clutch actuator arm, that might be worn out or galled, maybe get a new cable. My clutches are hard to tell the difference in pull effort compared to a KTM hydro...t...

O.K here is my year end wrap up. Timbersleds are awesome and super fun, kind of like riding sand dunes in the woods hanging off the side of a cliff in the middle of nowhere. The terrain goes forever and you can get to places others will never see in minutes. Reliability is obviously paramount!! Thin...

I would do it again in a minute and may. I am getting a 137 kit off a guy for next year and have not decided yet what route I am going to take, weather I sell my kit, or build another bike, if I build another bike should I make it a 500 or build up another bike more as a loaner. For me if it wasn't ...

I am not monitoring coolant temps, mine has run perfect every time. If I was on anything else I wouldn't be going where I can go o this. The guys I ride with are half my weight on new KTM 450's with 129 Yeti kits. So they are lighter than me with longer tracks and they can out climb me but my set up...

I am running a carb heater built by the dude M5 on the snowest forum, it is similar to an avid but he builds it round so its not a big bulbous square thing. It originally hit in the electric start motor bolts pretty hard but I ended up running one of Roosty's VF2 cages that has a spacer built into i...

Fat Hoon is doing the Baja 1000 this year

So I was reading something and it said the Baja 1000 will be 50 years old this year. Checked around to make sure and it was true. I called up the guy who payed for the 500 when we did it a few years ago and he said "what are you thinking?" I told him I thought maybe we should run it. So at...

I posted on the other site about plastics, sorry to hear you can't ride it anymore. Like they say with age comes a cage....I hope to be able to ride forever, but it's not all that likely. Guess that's part of the reason to take a run at the 1000 this year, it's not going to get any easier as I get o...

We are getting some flooding now with a little rain storm. I have seen this much snow I think but it has been a few years for sure. I rode the Timbersled

O.K. so I got everything all together and took it for its maiden voyage. I will try to post the video of the first 20 seconds of me on a snowbike later. My initial thoughts were find a meadow and get used to the thing and shake out any bugs. Well we don't have a lot of snow right now under 8000' so ...

Roosty can do a motor any way you want it from stock to full on crazy power, the other guy on here who knows how to treat these motors is Blownbillybob. I don't have any personal experience with Gore but know he has been respected as sum-what of a Guru but I believe he has become large enough that e...

There are guys like the administrator of this site Roosty who can fix those cases for you. Is the crank actually siezed or just pinched up with piston fragments sitting in the bottom of the case? the gouges may bore out depending on what bore you are on. If you can still see part of the original sca...

Yea thats what I pulled it off was some kind of a quad piece, don't remember the exact length but I know the first one I bought seemed a little long so I got one a few MM shorter. You cant really see the bolt when the whole bike is put together. If I was to modify the mount I would lay the outer par...

Yes it bolts straight onto the 91 frame, you need everything....I believe you listed it all and it is a huge upgrade. The rear I am not sure about the 91 but I think you can bolt all the same stuff on there. There are 2 different swingarms that can be identified by how they weld up in the front, if ...

I have Bobs old bike, I hated that bolt that Roosty is talking about, it had a nonshouldered bolt in it and it drove me crazy. Just the opposite on the clickers with the twin chambers, compression is on top rebound on the bottom. they should have a bit of a detent, if memory serves it isn't as hard of a click as some but there are definite detent stopping points you should feel as clicks....might be time to tear those sucke...
