extending the backbone: i found this schedule 40 tubing at work that fit perfectly (with encouragement from my 16 pound sledge) inseted it 2-1/2" into each side. before cutting thabackbone i made three alignment lines so it lined up perfectly. then used a straightedge to ensure correct alignmen...

ahhh i see, meybye we can help each other out, i will post pics along the way. what do you have in mind for building the frame out of? i plan on using tube steel in various diameters 1/2" and 3/4" i would love to use aluminum but i dont have a tig welder anymore

ya that was one of my primary concerns when lining it up, they will fit but the air filters will be stickin way up lookin really really funky. there will only be like 3/8" between the backbone and the top edge of the carbs. this is a 93 motor so it has the carbs not the throttle body injection ...

I was hoping that I could get away with not extending the upper backbone but it isnt gonna happen. the front tire as it is will hit the oil filter under full compression so it will have to have at least 3 inches added to it. but thats okay I guess., it will give me more room to mount the radiator. a...

by the way for those of you running steelies, i would seriously consider drilling some drain holes in the bottom of your frame because when i chopped out the cradle, like a full cup of water came out of it and it was quite rusty in there.

ya other than i mudded it up yesterday but you know how it is, you cant just not ride!!! i forgot how much power a fresh motor has, pulled the wheel up on a hill in 3rd and made my butt pucker had to panick tap the rear brake lol!

that does make sense, because i have one that has a narrow band and a shallow chamber but another has a wide band with a deep chamber and the plug hole is angled different. the latter i bought from a guy that said it had been milled down. and he was sayin stuff about the squish but i didnt understand.
