They just have...umm...about half a dozen serious, and I mean SERIOUS, builders on that site and they don't want their topics getting high jacke...

Ok, so this guy is a damn legit tuner. He builds parts for these bikes that Kawasaki Heavy Industries can't compete with. He's personally torn down Factory KX500 rides (Jeff Ward's & Destry Abbott's to name a few) spec'd them all out, dynoed them, and posted all his results. Him and his father o...

I would try to post a link to the topic, but the engine mod thread is only visible to certain (privileged  ) members anymore. I suppose I could copy and past it? Seems pretty cheesy to me though :?

Remember this is a KX500 forum. They're serious about building motors

Not at all saying the benefits would be similar. But KX500 riders are doing this and seeing increases from bottom to top on both the dyno and track testing.

I'm interested.

Yeah the secret's out for good I guess, 250 ignitions are coming out of the wood work for sale, and not for the $90 I got mine for. A friend of mine in ID has a snowmobile magazine with a CR500 Gen 4 (ie NOT S/H) conversion ride test in it. He says the magazine states the CR250 ignition swap is &quo...

Doesn't have to be. When we're talking 4-strokes valves and pistons are only 20% of the problem  Where were all the Honda's this year? Dead in the parking lot with FI problems

Strangely I have been pleading with him to rebuild the 450. I like the FI 450 Kawi...when it runs it's best. I talk shit to him no different than I would any other 4-broke rider, but it's just that, shit talk. The KXF is a good bike. I'd hate to see him butcher up that nice Monster Energy 450 alread...

is the poor piston design leading to a crack in the piston. I felt the bike was running like every other 450 I've ridden. Which is to say it felt like a sick dog. That ride planted a seed in his mind I guess, cuz three weeks later he was sure it was down on power. Around Halloween it was at the ste...

The KX450F I was riding this year ate a piston in November. Not nearly as badly as the one pictured above...but fuck...might as well had been, it's costing a fortune to fix. Shame really, it "was" a strong running bike :(

I figured as much, but this is how I see it... You're paying good $$ to have the crank balanced. It ain't cheap, and god only knows your crank could be pretty well balanced already. Don't pay the money if it's not going to be done 100% correctly. Send STR the coated piston, you wouldn't send a jug o...

Well beings how STR is going to have your piston on hand to balance your crank it shouldn't matter. If it's a little heavier they'll make the necessary adjustments, if it's alot heavier...you get the idea.

You should notify SOCOM about this info. Imagine all the tax money we could save if the Navy Seals, Force Recon, Army Rangers etc. etc. stopped wasting all that money on suppresors for all those USP Tacticals, Mark 23's, MP5, M4, M14's, .338 Lapua etc. etc. SOCOM? I don't think this is alot of help, but an OEM Honda rear tube for a 19" rim weighs 2lbs 11oz. This is the entire tube assembly (rim strip, bead lock etc).

TuBliss rear in comparison is 1lb 10oz.
