Old, over-weight, un-fit, generally clueless on a bike - that's me. I did Adelanto last year, survived and smiled for at least a week. The jumps are pretty tame except for the water jump, and if you keep right then you can go round it through about 4 or so whoops. You just need to plug around the 8 ...

It's jetted well enough to start and run - when it cares to. This is a combination of operator "error" (i.e. a inability/reluctance to "rabbit kick"), inherent design, and maybe a fault. I am predicting that with a stock ignition in place it will start up just like the 1999 I ori...

I have bought a TekBolt kit once when I had no fasteners and it got me going. Then I top up the kit with specific items bought at Denault's Hardware. I think their supplier is American Fasteners? There is one specific washer size that comes in the kit that is near impossible to find elsewhere.

How did you go swapping the wires mate?? any good? im looking at an AFX some time this year to I got distracted with racing at "Day in the Dirt", but there is a stock ignition waiting for me in Aliso Viejo and I'll get to it ASAP this week... I checked my ignition and the wires are "...

Am I correct in assuming the ignition system comes from Electrosport or they provide the parts? The CDI box is marked CD1590 and Google finds a match at Electrosport with a CDI for a Honda TRX450R. I also heard from the local shop that the someone with another Service Honda had had their ignition re...

What State are you in? CA has killed this kind of registration off using the VIN number. That being said I should be able to get a green (all-year-round) sticker for my CR500AFX based on the CRF250X frame. A CRF250R frame will only get you a red sticker.

I believe Loctite will act as an anti-galling agent, because basically you want something that will prevent the two metal parts touching. For all my stressed bolts I use an assembly lube and then torque it correctly. Other un-stressed bolts I use a dab of blue Loctite.

More on Service Honda Ignition...

I have a '07 SH CR500AFX with the digital ignition, and have had the same starting problems. Very very difficult to start cold, and then maybe 3 kicks when warm - not good for dead engine GP starts. Now the bike will not fire up at all having died out on the practice track. While SH is sending me a ...

If you have checked everything out and the vibration is "normal", check out Faast vibration-damping inserts for your handlebars or the Tru Technologies Flexbar system, or fill the bars with silicone.

Tried one for the first time last Friday. Was very easy to set up and absolutely un-noticeable once you are riding. Even fit with a HRP Flak Jacket without mods. Solid recommendation for anyone.

Hello

Restore and race post-vintage motocross. Got hooked on the CR500 when I got loaned one for the Elsinore GP, and fell in love with the CR500AF at first sight. It'll be more of a bike, than I'll ever be a rider, but who cares. Going to race some SoCal GPs and maybe some Vet motocross. Oh, and I am ano...

Re: grand prix teams

The lake Elsinore Gran Prix and the Adelanto Grand Prix area lot of fun, is anyone interested in doing these, hell even forming a CR500 team? Vetx also has a grand prix schedule. I am an Elsinore GP regular, and having done Adelanto for the first time in 2007 wouldn't miss that either. Will probabl...
