The temperature in the pipe actually determins the speed of sound, the pipes tuned length are based on some predicted gas temperature, I think around 1100 degrees. the colder the pipe the more it will cool the exhaust gases. This is my understanding of the pipe I could be totally off  It woul...

id be way more concerned about the antifreeze not getting up to temp, today i went out and the highest i saw was 150F, most of the time it was to low to register it cant be good to have it pinned and the cylinder not up to the temp thats in mind for proper piston cyl clearances thermostat, or piece...

So what happens if your exhaust doesn't get up to temp, like if you didn't wrap it or coat it. I'm getting set up for winter fun as well if winter ever comes here. You will loose power from lower exhaust gas speed. I,ll wrap it in black exhaust asbestos band, and on that i will put a protection shi...

Never had one on a 500 so I can't say much there. As far as quality I liked the Dynoport on my old ATK 260 so much I bought one for my old RM 250 shortly after. Money well spent on both I liked them a lot and wouldn't hesitate to buy another in the future  Ok, sounds great=). My pipe is on th...

Hi guys. Is there anyone here who use the Dynoport pipe on a 500? What is your experience of them?

Whacked out jetting often goes right back to air leaks, bad plug wire, bad ignition, or some other electrial gremlin. The carb prolly' isnt the problem. Yup, I'd bet money on an electrical problem, or an air leak. I tried to jet my '79 Maico 440 for about 6 months, just could NOT make it right. It ...

I picked up a old PWK off a KX 500 when I tore it down to bore it out the jet block o-ring was discintegrated ?????? There's three small holes that line up between the carb body and jet block and all the o-ring material around them was shot I'm sure it would've ran like shit if not ran at all !!! I...

Remember his head mods are based on an ML3-R casting, not the HF, HF-1, ml3 or ml3-N heads
Ok, so that won,t be right for me then. I guess i,ll go with the standard plug and see how that goes, or do you recommend anything else?

Yes, i guess that,s the common reason, but i also read that Eric Gorr recommended to change to a nr6 plug for the 500. I wonder what the reason for this is as it,s working ok with the standard nr8?

Well, i,m quite familiar with jetting and i know how to jet a lean running, but it doesn,t work. i tried different slides, DGL,DGK,DGN, CGJ,CGL needles in different positions, different pilots bla bla bla, but it won,t go away, so i suspect it has something to do with ignition. I had a BR 85EGV plug...

The advantage is the ability to run a leaner main which will give you better response when you snap it all the way open and that the jet is essentially vacuum powered so if you are still making power, it will continue adding fuel. The hesitation you are experiencing is either the pilot of the needl...

PWK is the only way to go on a 500. I ran mikuni on my gen-1 and when I had it running good it ran really good, but it was very tempermental and required a lot of tuning all the time. My friend is running a lectron on his rhino and its a PITA to tune, the thing never starts right and part throttle ...

Ok, so what,s the problem with part throttle? Is it just the whole layout of the carb? I was thinking of one for the 500, but maybe it,s not a good idea for roaduse? Johnny Either live with a gurgle fat off idle or a smokin lean mid range. Like they said, the big end tis good. If you think you can ...

What compression?

Hi. I, m just curious of what compression you guys are running in your ported 500,s. I have a quite regular portjob with 3,5mm raised exhaust and 1,5mm transfers. Ported intake ports. I use 95 octane fuel. I also have a Coolhead with 66cc chamber now, but has been recommended to go for the 63cc that...

Ok. That,s what i was afterr really, to know if it,s any idea for me to laborate with it at all. I would like to get some more revs out of it, and i will buy a Dynoport pipe, so my thoughts was to adjust the timing accordingly to that, but maybe i shouldn,t bother then.

Ok, so i should adjust the timing without the tab, and when i,m satisfyed i file it and put it back again? Is that what you suggest?
