A friend email em and asked for build pics of the welding and how the joints were done.

Reply was that [to paraphrase] ....as close to original as possible, no pics and wouldn't divulge their fab methods.......

I guess if it ever breaks in half you can see how it was done.......

Oh the irony....... People complain about gun noise all the time but silencers on them are a no no but everyone think they're cool and wants one. People complain about noisy bikes all the time, this look like a good option, but no one want to use one because it looks gay [no insult intended]. Gun gu...

$600 + for a stocker, I hate to think what a custom would cost.

Uh..................I'm not a patient person.

The tank looks berry berry nice though.

If and when they become available, will they all be the same configuration or will custom sizing be an option?

Greetings from Vermont

At 52 I'm under some delusion that I can race again [18 years off] and not having the most advanced mechanical skills, I bought this 05 CRF450 conversion from a guy in CT a couple weeks ago. It came with a rebuilt 87 motor but I have a 97 that I think I'm going to put in. Really need to ditch the bi...

Custom aluminum tanks:

Anyone making them to customers specs? Basically I need a stock 05 CRF450 tank but an 1 1/2" shorter in the front. Coil and sealed off rad stubs in the way.

Capacity not an issue for MX.

Well, I have actually changed my own oil and do have a pair of vicegrips available but the Y/cradle look to be the easy part of the mod. All the little dodads [pipe hangers/airbox/coil/etc] look like a PITA unless you're "fab man". With 2 "extra" engines sitting around all I need...

If the truth be known, I never even owned a rice burner till the late 80's. Maicos, Huskys and Bultaco were the way I rolled.

In fact, I still have never gotten use to right foot braking........just don't seem natural after growing up breaking on the left.

Man, that's one ugly color green they have on that site. Nice KX/Af conversion on one of the threads in the AF section though....... I owned a KX once. I crashed so hard on the damm thing I burst a blood vessel in my brain. Then I bought a Honda. :)

Thanks. Where do I want the choke knob set when I adjust the air screw? I was checking pilot size by adjusting out from full in till I got a fast idle. It's over 1 and less then 2 but how does choke knob position effect that? FWIW: I ordered a slightly fatter [2.72] needle in any event. [PJ carb, FM...

87 jetting, I'm I on track?

Bike seemed waaay rich down low. Yes, you can crack the throttle to start cold. I found: 165 main. 58 Pilot Needle clip 1 up from bottom Much searching here leads me to believe: 170 Main is safer. 58 is ok? [or should I go down a bit?] Move clip to 2nd down from top. I'm on board with the air screw ...

Thanks, I know how annoying it to answer noob questions. I feel the same way much of the time when faced with basic questions relating to my profession on BBs

The 87 has a new WP housing so hopefully the rot issue is in check.

Thanks for the input.

I'm buying a CR with an 87 motor in it.

Should I run it with that motor or swap it for

a 97 motor I have?

Both motors have been re-built.

My bad: Incomplete info.

The bike is already converted and has the 87 in it but I also have the 97.

I can swap motors.

Put the 97 back in the 97 roller and keep/sell.

Use either and keep the other for a spare.

Do my own damm conversion this winter and use one of the things.
