You'll do much better parting it out- if the top end is good you could get some good coin just for that

You dont want someone else's headache......
That's true to a point- if you have a competent mechanic split the motor and go entirely through it you can have a bulletproof motor- my 85 is testament to that.

Another frame breaker is not having the right bolts holding it together- if they are too skinny the motor will move around and shake it apart. My current frame I used regular width mounts so I could use the original bolts- real happy with that decision I haven't had to tighten them once in the last ...

Throw the frame in the junk heap and start from scratch... 150$ frames show up on ebay if you are patient.

Ive got one and by far it is the biggest dirt bike engine i have ever seen. I'll put some pics up when I finish with the lights and tank.

You can buy them super cheap- I will be running some hi speed races on it next year.

You don't need to go crazy with the pre-heat, about 200F

5356 is superior to 4043 in every specification
4043 is not compatible with 700x series aluminum, which many believe these frames are made out of.

You can repair cast iron with stainless filler- that being said though I would not worry about it like others have recommended.

I used to do the bel-ray uni thing, but I got sick of cleaning up the spoo that comes out of the air box. The residual kerosene on the filter gets into your bucket with the oil in it which just makes the problem worse. I have been using the PJ1 spray with good results- and a FLO filter which comes w...

The problem with a dirty filter isn't that it plugs up- the problem is that the dirt draws the oil out of the filter.
If you get enough on there the fines will pass right through.
