Thanks Dogger, your rails are top notch btw.... The conversion of the newer style airbox/sub frame is not much different from the others. Just different mounting points and the face of the airbox is shorter. mid pipe mount [img https://bannedcr500riders.com/images/auto/23a0d44b0ee1c7a3c0061cb1ec50bd...

Thanks for the help boys... I knew I was close with the PJ. I had Kent Howerton take it for a ride last weekend at Cycle Ranch. I figured if anyone knows how a 500 is supposed to feel it would be Kent. Anyway, he came back grinning and told me im rich down low.. Been chasing it since. Dont get me wr...

The IDLE SCREW: https://bannedcr500riders.com/images/auto/e39691d4a0ef286389455a3dd6c754ba.jpg This is the black plastic one that comes on most all PWk's. To make it idle on a CR500, it needs to be nearly bottomed out. I've even seen bikes where you needed to cut a little off the coil spring to rel...

Fuel tank
I forgot to document what I did for the tank.... sorry Bob... lol In case anyone was curious, I used the stock CRF250R tank. Took the cap off, set it upside down on a stand and proceeded to heat the crap out of it with a heat gun. Concentrating on the 9 and 3 o'clock positions. After 3-4 minutes you...

I am not saying one way or another on the validity of this grenade... But I did something similar a few years ago. Back when I used to drag race snowmobiles, we built a single cylinder test mule to develop porting and race pipes. It was a lot cheaper than destroying my 1000cc 3cyl engine. After we g...

swapped PJ for PWK.... now I need some help
I know... the dreaded carb set up questions...lol First let me tell you what I was chasing. I built my A/F with a PJ. 170 main, 1369 Needle in the top clip (lean) 50 pilot A/S at 1-3/4 out. Starts 1 kick and idles great. On the track it feels a little blubbery down low and then hits very hard in the...

Interesting side note... I had a PJ on my 500 and felt it was a little dirty down low. Had a 50 pilot, A/S at 1/34 out, 1369 needle top clip (lean) Bike started and idled great just felt fat on bottom, I assumed the the shared idle choke circuit may hav had something to do with it, so I bought a 39 ...

Well its been several good rides at Cycle Ranch and not a single hiccup... This thing works well. I wish I could stop riding her like my 450 and remember what a 2 stroke is supposed to be like....lol This thing flat hauls ass. On the big loamy uphill at the Ranch, I pull 3-4 lengths on all the 450's...

The rear silencer bracket was roughed out pretty quick. I dont like they way it looks, but to be honest...its hidden behind the side plate. I utilized the stock 250 muffler bracket bolt and then tied it back to the rear fender bolt. Once I had the proper bend to match the offset in frame, it came to...

As you can see in the photo, I had Dogger use the stock CRF 250R headstay. Cut and drilled, but using the Honda shape. Next was the airbox. I have a 2008 CRF250R and found out pretty quick that the stuff hoons had done on the older 250F didnt quite work. Faceplate, airboot and silencer brackets I ma...

Ok boys.... been a hell of a long time, so I thought I would update a little. The bike is finally done and I am off to Cycle Ranch today for her maiden voyage. Here are a few more pics of the things I needed to get done since last post. I went single outlet head using the large CRF style outlet [img...

Anyone done the new style (06-09) CRF250R sub frame. I would like to see how you mounted silencer. The rails on 08 are steeper and shorter than the 04-05. If I get the tail of the pipe in a nice position it puts the silencer too high for sideplates and fender... Pissin me off... I want to make mount...

Nice build rjt. I am amazed at the differences in frame clearance between your 450 and my 250F. Specifically the cross member down in the footbox area. I literally had to lift engine out of mounts to get enough clearance to install bolt in shifter. And I used the newer CR 250 shifter to boot!! I am ...

I guess that I can run the 500 cables until I really need to buy new ones, I wonder how much longer the 02 stuff is. Also, I took a look at the brake lever... I would have to bend it out 8-10mm to get it to clear the clutch cover!!!! That seems like a lot. Is there a better brake lever to use? Like...
