I have ran both pro circuit and fmf, they both fit decently.
Any 91-01 cr500 silencer should bolt right up like stock to the 91-01 pipe.
Don't try to use a 250 silencer.
Get one for a late cr500.

I did this on my first one, it cost about $0.75, and has been holding up for years.

I had Roosty make this one for my second build.

You probably won't be able to find a fancy brake pedal. If you want it lower, you'll likely have to bend / cut it, and if you want something fancy, you could put a hammer head tip or something like this on:

I sat on 13 sets for over a year. Sold 1 set as well.
Kept 2 for myself, and gave the rest to roosty.
If you want some, he has some.

I ordered a whole kit full of pullers on eBay.

All you need is the 27mm puller for CR's.

Like so:

Any motorcycle shop can order you one.

You need a flywheel puller.
If you try anything else, you will be sorry.

I used a stock gen1 97-99 cr250 rad hose to go to the top of the rad from the copper t on the head. Just trimmed it a couple inches.

My KTM is an 08, and has around 50 hours on the stock engine. Has a recalled camshaft still in it (auto decompressor doesn't work) this bike is harder to kick than a CR500 but luckily it has an easy button! (Which is why I have never bothered to switch out the cam shaft.)

Reliability is good, but they are different than owning a Honda, for sure. The only trouble I've had is with a leaky cam chain tensioner. I swapped it out for a manual adjuster and had no problems. Oil must be changed on both engine and tranny side every couple hours, or it shifts badly, and starts ...

If I had 2 hoses, they'd have to join together to go into the single rad inlet anyway.
So no, it won't run any hotter.
The gen 1 has 1 rad, so only one hose in, and one hose out.
Cools perfectly.

I hate to admit it, but my KTM excr 530 sees way more use than my CR, and its street legal, so I can ride it to the grocery store. Great bike, big torque curve.
